Pablo Juliá (Cádiz, 1949), graduated in Modern and Contemporary History at the Universidad de Barcelona, but he has always worked as a ‘documenter’ of society by means of photography. He has been one of the best documenters of the Spanish transition in images, from El Socialista, La Ilustración Regional or Torneo.
He is the author of several publications and his work has been exhibited in different individual and collective exhibitions. Among others, the most recent one has been Andaluces, a collective exhibition organized by the Consejería de Obras Públicas of the Junta de Andalucía. Among his different awards, we can remark the Premio Andalucía de Periodismo and FotoPress de Cultura. Since 2007 he has been the director of the Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía in which he had been a member of the Advisory Board of the centre in the past; nowadays he is the director of the Centro Andaluz de la Imagen, made up of the Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía and the Filmoteca de Andalucía.
The CAF, Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía, was created in 1992 for the sake of going on with the task of spreading and promoting photography which had been started with the project Imagina. This fact made some of the most prestigious professionals of photography be able to exhibit their work in Amería, for instance William Klein, Douglas Klee, Max Pam, Evgen Bavcar, Arno Fischer, Ouka Lele, Cristina García Rodero, Ilan Wolf, Toni Catany, Sebastião Salgado or Henri Cartier-Bresson.
